Russian baritone Rodion-Pogossov (right) is performing at One&Only Royal Mirage as part of World Classical Music Series on May 5. The singer will be accompanie­d by pianist Semjon Skigin from Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in his rendition of grand arias in roles such as Barber of Seville’s Figaro and Papageno of The Magic Flute. At Al Ain’s UAE University, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse will be in concert on May 3 as part of the Abu Dhabi Classics. Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev and French cellist Edgar Moreau (above) will be performing pieces inspired by the stories of 1,001 Nights. Tickets from Dh100 at ticketmast­er.ae.

American hip-hop artist Russ (below left) will be performing at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Al Jazeera Ghantoot (next to Blue Marlin) tomorrow. The musician from Atlanta (hip-hop’s epicentre) and known for his singles like What They Want and Losin Control, produces, mixes and writes his own music. The concert will have a festival vibe with performanc­es by local R’n’B and hip-hop DJs, and a host of food trucks. Sun, sand, surf and music are the focus at Barasti Beach’s Sugar Beach music festival. The free beach party today includes a line-up of guest DJs and musicians such as The Buzz Junkies and Drum Warrior and local acts like Jedi Master Marty, Rohan Nunez and Tom Ferguson. The party starts at 11am and runs until late in the night.
