Ma­rina Mall Abu Dhabi is cel­e­brat­ing World Autism Aware­ness Month un­til May 22. You can join in by buy­ing a Puz­zle Piece sym­bol, sold at the mall’s cus­tomer desk for Dh10, and place them on the autism tree set up in the mall. The first ex­hi­bi­tion in the Mid­dle East of Ce­cil Beaton’s cap­ti­vat­ing por­traits runs at Sotheby’s in DIFC un­til May 27. Over 60 of his most cel­e­brated works of stars of stage and screen, roy­alty, artists and glam­orous and in­flu­en­tial char­ac­ters, from the 1920s to the 1970s (such as Au­drey Hep­burn, above), are on show. An Amaz­ing Na­tion – a book cel­e­brat­ing the UAE’s 45th an­niver­sary – launches to­day at Ki­noku­niya Book­store at The Dubai Mall, from 4.30pm. The book is full of graph­ics that chart gov­ern­ment struc­ture, ar­chi­tec­ture, habi­tats and tra­di­tions. Fran­cis Matthew, Edi­tor-at-Large of Gulf News, which pub­lished the book, will talk about the book and the UAE’s her­itage and eco­nomic achieve­ments.
