PACIFIC LUXE: INSIDE CONRAD BORA BORA
Bora Bora has had to wait 10 years for a new five-star resort but from the pictures it appears Conrad Bora Bora Nui’s was worth it. The hotel features the destination’s only two-storey over-water bungalows and its longest white sand beach. Sat on a private cove on Motu To’opua, a small islet off the coast of Bora Bora, the resort is Conrad Hotels’ first property in French Polynesia. Lodgings blend elements from Tahitian history and art into its design – there are 114 guest rooms including 28 tropical garden and beach villas, and 86 overwater bungalows and Presidential Villas – the over-water accommodation comes with catamaran nets over the water to lounge in. Both the Upa Upa Lounge Bar and Hina Spa hover over the lagoon. You can also veer off the beaten path and try some off-the-wall experiences with Conrad’s 1/3/5 itineraries – cultural experiences that can be squeezed into one, three or five hours: ukulele lessons with local musicians, the history of black pearl cultivation or getting Polynesian tattoos using boar-tusk combs.
