Aqib Anwar’s life is picture perfect, what with the love of his life, photography being his career, too.

MUSICAL MOTIVATION

Music is everything tome; it is the single biggest source of inspiration for my work, whether photographs or video. I like to listen to moody electronic music and gangster[ rap] music; they’ re contradictory genres. It’s hard to pick one song but if I had to, it would be Noise Above Our Heads by James Blake. Or just about anything by James Blake, really.

ALL WORK AND SOME PLAY

My weekends, just like my week days, are unpredictable–there is no blue print to my life now asa freelance photographer. I’ m not bound by timings so I strive to accomplish the most I can out of each day.

TRASH TALK

At the age off our, my aim in life was to be a garbage truck driver; I was fascinated by the shape of the truck, the noise sit made, the flashing lights and that the driver unloaded the cans from his seat. My mum made me a garbage truck cakeformy sixth birthday. It was amazing!

INSTA GRATIFICATION

In 2015, after moving back to Dubai, I attended an Ins tag ram meet that was my defining moment. I knew it meant something when I preferred waking up early togo on photo walks instead of late nights out with friends. Later, when people started offering me money to have their pictures taken I real is ed that I could make a living out of what I love doing.

SAVED BY THE BOXER

UFC champion boxer Con or McGregor’ s success helped me quit my job and gave me the courage to take up freelance photography. Co norw asap lumber living on welfare when he decided that he would pursue what he was best at. A quote that inspired me is :‘ Some people will critique it[ his br ash self-belief ]. Others will be inspired from it ... the ones who take inspiration from it will come up and one day taste success like this, the others will remain where they are ’. His story motivates me to not be complacent with partial success, but togo out there and be among thebes tin the world.
