Lindsay Judge picks the fashion lover’s guide to this year’s top world travel
This month, Emirates is doubling the number of flights to Bali, meaning there’s double the chance for you to fly to this paradise island. Whether you’re looking to relax, party, sightsee or browse the hundreds of boutiques – Bali has it all.
Fly Dubai have increased their flights to this African destination in the last few months. From Zanzibar’s beaches to the heights of Kilimanjaro, this place has it all, and shoppers can pick up gorgeous handmade jewellery and clothes in the markets of Zanzibar.
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
Forget Tokyo, Seoul is fast becoming the fashion hub of the east. Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé exhibition is in the city until July 19, and there so many other reasons to visit. You’ll find everything from local fashion brands to flagship stores from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Prada. Everyone is Seoul is so stylish – expect to get outfit inspiration from just walking the streets.
Back in late 2015 Cuba and the US re-established their diplomatic relations, meaning Americans can to travel to the country for the first time since 1958. That might be scaled back under the Trump administration (new rules are to be drawn up in July), but it has already meant new hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions popping up in the city. The message is still: Go there soon.
This summer, fashion house Yves Saint Laurent opens a museum in the Morrocan city – the late designer took much of his inspiration from the city, and the new museum will house a permanent exhibition of some of his designs. It’s a favourite with celebrities with the likes of Victoria and David Beckham and John Legend and Chrissy Tiegen holidaying there this year.
CANADA – ALL OF IT
Canadians celebrate the 150th anniversary of their independence this year, meaning there is free admission to National Parks all year. There are also so many stylish cities to visit – head to Vancouver for laid-back shopping, Toronto for designer brand heaven, or Montreal for Canada-meets-Europe vibe.
Earlier this year we introduced you to hygge – Denmark’s winter coziness – but this summer, the country really comes alive. Aarhus was named the culture capital of Europe for 2017 and is perfect for strolling around streets, visiting art galleries and vintage shopping.
