It’s not un­usual to have fash­ioned the cor­ner of the sofa into a cosy study space, or set up a lap­top on the kitchen work­top, but while these can be con­ve­nient for short bursts of ac­tiv­ity, they are not con­ducive to longer-term com­fort, well-be­ing and pro­duc­tiv­ity. Make-shift desk set-ups lead to bad pos­ture and could po­ten­tially lead to usual strains in the arm, shoul­der or back. In such sit­u­a­tions, Alan ad­vises that we cre­ate a set-up that is sim­i­lar to that of an er­gonom­i­cally ef­fi­cient of­fice.
