Crack up and have a cracking good start to the month with comedian Aurie Styla’s (above) stand-up show at Tribeca, JA Ocean View Hotel on August 5. This is the funny Londoner’s first show in Dubai and will see him poke fun at modern-city dwellers with urban humour. The show is the first in the Stand-Up Dubai new comedy night series. The Laughter Factory is churning out a series of comedy shows to keep you amused until August 11. Comics John Fothergill (right), Nick Page and Paddy Lennox will draw out laughter from audiences at Movenpick Hotel, Jumeriah Beach today, Grand Millennium Tecom on August 10 and Le Meridien Dubai on August 11. Shows start at 9pm at all venues. The laughter trickles up to the capital on August 9 with a show at Park Rotana Abu Dhabi; show starts at 8pm. Dubomedy have extended their Stand-up Workshops for the summer in both English and Arabic – the additional two weeks will run from August 12-26 and are open to all levels. Students will meet five times during the two weeks to work on stage presence, timing and delivery with seasoned comedians . Emirati comedian Ali Al Syed will be tutoring the Arabic students. The students will then get to perform at a public show.
Continuing with the trend of extensions, Dubomedy is also conducting two more free comedy shows, on August 25 (Arabic) and August 26 (English). Both shows start at 7.30pm but venues are yet to be confirmed. Email email@example.com to be on the guestlist and receive details on the location.
