Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quar­ter will be chock full with cy­clists to­day when the Liwa Cy­cling Race starts at 8am. The race has 104km, 84km and 40km cour­ses that all start from the Moreeb Dune and will take par­tic­i­pants through pic­turesque parts of the desert. The in­au­gu­ral Palm Run kicks off on Jan­uary 19 at the Board Walk Palm Jumeirah. The com­mu­nity fun run or­gan­ised by RaceME and Fit­ness First has three different cat­e­gories to suit all fit­ness lev­els and ages – pick from 3km, 5km or 10km. For kids in the four to 10 years old age group there’s a 1km course. Race packs can be col­lected from Palm Mono­rail car park from Jan­uary 16-18.
