Our pick of this year’s Dubai Food Festival

Dine out for less

We all know dining out in Dubai can be a costly experience, which is why we’re such huge fans of Miele Dubai Restaurant Week. Dhs199 for three courses at some of the city’s top finedining restaurants? Count us in! Fifteen high-end eateries are taking part in this year’s foodie extravaganza, including our top picks below…

sea fu, four seasons resort

One of Dubai’s most picturesque eateries, Sea Fu’s beachside location is a prime spot for a romantic date night. Choose from a set menu featuring tuna carpaccio, crispy prawns, seafood forbidden rice and duck, as well as an extraordinary sounding dark chocolate and candied ginger dessert.

Mayta, DifC

Peruvian food might have become somewhat ubiquitous, but we’ve a real soft spot for Mayta, which removes the bells and whistles and instead treats the country’s cuisine with serious respect. The special menu is a tribute to tradition, with a salmon ceviche to start, a choice of wok-fried beef or grilled seafood for mains and a classic tres leches dessert to end.

Pai thai, Madinat Jumeirah

Another one that’s ideal for a romantic evening, Pai Thai might be in the heart of the bustling Souq Madinat but it feels a world, rather than a mere abra ride, away from the hustle and bustle. The offer menu here also features some of the restaurant’s signature classics, from chicken sate and crispy prawns to pad Thai and mango sticky rice.

the rib room

A Dubai stalwart, The Rib Room is a steakhouse to which the scene’s young whippersnappers aspire – and the DFF menu makes clear why. Choose from starters including scallops or the genius-sounding short rib tater tots, mains such as Angus hanger steak, butternut risotto or flamed jumbo prawns and a range of desserts that includes a white chocolate pot. Winning.

Pier Chic, Al Qasr Hotel

As savings go, eating at this iconic restaurant for a mere Dhs199 a head is quite a coup. There are no choices on the menu, but given it contains white bean cappuccino with turbot and truffle, Atlantic sea trout with beetroot, filo and dill sour cream and a mouth watering Manjari chocolate dessert, who needs options?
