As any­one un­for­tu­nate enough to find them­selves be­hind me at barre class will tell you, I’m no stranger to a good meal. What I lack in size zero jean fit­ting abil­ity, I make up for in culi­nary en­thu­si­asm, and if you can’t find me mak­ing a mess in my own kitchen, I’m likely busy en­joy­ing the spoils of some­one else’s.

These days though, be­ing a foodie can feel like some­thing of a po­lit­i­cal state­ment, a push­back against the mod­ern de­sire to pho­to­graph an acai bowl rather than eat an ac­tual ap­ple. So it is that this month we delve into the world of food and drink, and ask what the land­scape looks like in the UAE to­day.

From dis­sect­ing the ‘clean eat­ing’ phe­nom­e­non to un­cov­er­ing the coun­try’s most ground­break­ing gas­tronomes, you’ll find plenty of in­spi­ra­tion for your own culi­nary ex­plo­rations.
