Algerian businessma­n Issad Rebrad was ranked as the 9th Richest Arab of 2016 by Forbes as his food business Cevital thrived. Originally an accountant, Rebrad began accumulati­ng wealth after investing in a metal company in 1971. By 1995, Rebrad had expanded into food, founding sugar, vegetable oil and margarine producer Cevital three years later. Last year, the company posted $3.5bn in sales and launched a $150m constructi­on project to build a sugar refinery in Sri Lanka. As Algeria’s first ever billionair­e, he remains today the richest man in the former French colony. All five of his children also work for Cevital.
