Tom & Serg
The vibrant warehouse-style café with exposed pipework, deliberately messy paint jobs and scuffed flooring feels right at home in the industrial Al Qouz area. The restaurant is the brainchild of Sergio Lopez, the F&B operations director from Madrid and Tom Arnel, a chef from Melbourne.
Naturally, the first item you must try from the all-day breakfast menu is the excellent Australian Benedict in which the poached eggs are doused in gribiche hollandaise and topped with shredded wagyu beef. Need more meat? Turn to the Breaky Bao with succulent beef that leaves a happy mess on your fingers and plate in its wake.
The sourdough crumpets are another popular item on the menu with a beautifully plated preparation of salmon, sourdough bread, lettuce, and a Lebanese cucumber salsa that’s really the ace ingredient of the dish. To end on a sugary note, try the salted caramel French toast, which has bits of rhubarb, black cherry and some sticky caramel. If coffee is more your thing, they’ve elevated the experience with Colombian, Brazilian, Ugandan and Indonesian offerings served using different methods.
