Pedestrian dies in run-over accident

41-year-old Japanese man died on the spot after he was run over in the free zone in Sharjah on Thursday night, an official told Gulf News yesterday.

The accident happened at 11pm when a speeding car ran over the man and the driver fled the scene, leaving the victim bleeding on the street. The man was crossing the road in Sharjah Airport International Free Zone.

By the time police reached the site, the man had succumbed to his injuries. Wasit Police are investigating the incident and are looking for the driver. (Staff Report)
