Global clean energy solutions on show at event, part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

-

hought leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs will gather in Abu Dhabi over the next four days to discuss ways to maximise the use of renewable energy globally as part of the annual World Future Energy Summit (WFES).

The event is the most significant international energy gathering since last year’s United Nations climate change conference in Marrakech. It will see decision-makers focus on the challenges after the landmark Paris Climate Deal came into force in November.

The UAE — and wider Middle East and North Africa — has recently turned the spotlight on to the use of sustainable energy. As such, WFES offers an opportunity for international green-tech companies to tap the growing demand for renewables. A significant contingent of specialist Italian companies will be among them (see box).

WFES is co-located with five events targeted at different aspects of sustainability, including water, solar technology, smart building solutions, sustainable transport and recycling garbage into energy.

The summit runs until Thursday at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
