Free train­ing for women tak­ing part in triathlon

The Dubai Ladies Club has launched a free three-week train­ing camp for women par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Dubai Women’s Triathlon on Novem­ber 3.

The Dubai Ladies Club Triathlon Camp, which started on Oc­to­ber 10, is held on Tues­day, Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day from 5 to 6pm. It is open to women of all ages and fit­ness abil­i­ties and is de­signed to boost con­fi­dence and fit­ness, and im­prove skill and tech­nique.

The triathlon organised by the Women’s Sports Com­mit­tee of Dubai Sports Coun­cil will be hosted at the Dubai Ladies Club. It will fea­ture a com­bi­na­tion of three dis­ci­plines — swim­ming, run­ning and cy­cling — over a dis­tance of 40km.

“There is an over­whelm­ing amount of ev­i­dence for the pos­i­tive role played by sports and phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity in main­tain­ing a healthy life­style and build­ing a happy so­ci­ety,” said Lamia Ab­dul Aziz Khan, direc­tor of Dubai Ladies Club, vice-pres­i­dent of Women’s Sports Com­mit­tee and pres­i­dent of Or­gan­is­ing Com­mit­tee of the Triathlon.

Rev­enue gen­er­ated by the triathlon will be do­nated to Al Jalila Foun­da­tion’s iM­can scheme to help pro­vide dis­abled women with pros­thetic limbs.
