May 18, 2007: Bomb rips through his­toric Makkah Masjid in Hy­der­abad, killing 9 and in­jur­ing 58 oth­ers. An­other five peo­ple killed when po­lice open fire on a group of Mus­lims protest­ing against the blast.

May 19, 2007: Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Team makes large scale ar­rests in the city, sus­pect­ing the in­volve­ment of Mus­lims. 26 charged with con­spir­acy but ac­quit­ted by court.

June 9, 2007: State gov­ern­ment hands over the case to CBI af­ter al­le­ga­tions of bias.

De­cem­ber 29, 2007: Sus­pect Su­nil Joshi is shot dead by un­known as­sailants.

June 17, 2010: CBI ar­rests Deven­der Gupta and Lokesh Sharma with a claim that Hindu right wing group Ab­hi­nav Bharat was in­volved.

Novem­ber 19, 2010: CBI an­nounces ar­rest of Swami Asee­m­anand. De­cem­ber 18, 2010: Asee­m­anand gives state­ment to court con­fess­ing role in blast.

April 4, 2011: NIA takes over the case and books fresh cases. It de­clares two ac­cused Ram­chad­nra Kal­san­gra and San­deep Dange as ab­scon­der.

Fe­bru­ary 13, 2014: NIA files charge sheet against ten ac­cused in­clud­ing Swami Asee­m­anand.

March 23, 2017: Asee­m­anand and Mo­han­lal Ratesh­war granted bail. Aseema­mand re­leased from jail on March 30 Fe­bru­ary 15, 2018: Lt Col Puro­hit, one of the ac­cused in Male­gaon blast, joins the long list of wit­nesses who turn hos­tile. Col Puro­hit con­tra­dicts the claim of CBI and NIA that they recorded his state­ment.

April 16, 2018: Spe­cial NIA court ac­quits five ac­cused.
