Yoga Day in Dubai to be led by Saudi woman

Nouf Marwaai, Saudi Arabia’s first certified yoga instructor, who India honoured with a Padma Shri award, will lead Dubai’s Internatio­nal Yoga Day celebratio­ns this year.

On June 21, which marks 4th Internatio­nal Yoga Day, Marwaai, who is the founder of Arab Yoga Foundation, will be the chief guest at the official event to be held at Zabeel Park, Consul-General of India in Dubai Vipul said yesterday. She will lead thousands of enthusiast­s in performing yoga. Gates will open at 6pm and the event will end by 9.30pm.

Enthusiast­s from various yoga schools like Art of Living, Sahaj Yoga, Raja Yoga Centre, Heartfulne­ss Yoga, Sky Yoga and Laughter Yoga will participat­e.

Vipul said elaborate plans have been made to mark the day across the emirates.

Yoga Day events will start with a function at Al Arabi Sports Club in Umm Al Quwain today. On June 22, an event will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah. On the same day, events will be held at Ajman Indian Associatio­n, American University in Ras Al Khaimah and Indian Social Club, Fujairah.
