Finances and reform

-

The euro is the common currency that is used by 19 nations of the 28 that currently make up the EU. Using the currency means those member-states have agreed to strict budgeting parameters and working within the confines set primarily by European Central Bank (ECB).

President Emmanuel Macron of France and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are determined to reform Eurozone finances and strengthen the ECB.

Ultimately, German fiscal strength underwrites the euro’s value, and Merkel and Macron would love to see the euro reform signed off before the EU parliament elections in May.
