The Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) recently completed 1200 Intrepid, an 8500-square metre office building influenced by its location at the Navy Yard Corporate Center. The curved bows of a battleship are referenced in the double-curved façade of the four-storey structure which is also home to a giant periscope that offers tenants and visitors views of ships docked nearby. Natural light has been allowed to reach each centrebordering office while the building has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification thanks to its use of precast concrete panels which have enhanced energy efficiency.
