06 DUBAI CENTRE OF ATTENTION

King’s College Hospital is to be a new specialised facility focusing on four centres of excellence: obstetrics and gynaecology; paediatrics; orthopaedics; and endocrinology (diabetes) and liver transplants. The first phase of the project, designed by Perkins+Will, will comprise a total floor area of 23,000 square metres organised over eight floors, while phase two will be a horizontal expansion of around 16,000 square metres. The main entrance will feature a public lobby complete with a three-storey atrium; sustainable design features include self-shading exterior faces and soaring canopies surrounding the building, along with sheltered gardens. A roof garden will provide areas for rehabilitation and relaxation.
