A NOVEL APPROACH TO DESIGN

Identity - - DESIGN FORMULA HOTELS -

Tapping into the love of Instagrammable spaces is the newly renovated lobby and guest arrival experience in Hotel Café Royal – London’s first modern grand hotel designed and overseen by the world-renowned architect and interior designer Piero Lissoni.

As Lissoni states: “I wanted to respect and convey the true feeling of London by combining the contemporary life and taste of the city’s inhabitants with its inherent elegance and tradition.”

As visitors arrive they’re greeted by the bespoke 350-kilogram Murano glass chandelier designed by Italian firm Vistosi; other designer brands represented include Paolo Castelli, Poltrona Frau, Cassina and Living Divani, as well as Architectural FX (whose sustainable LED systems are used), Atrium/Flos and John Cullen.

But it’s the back of the room that speaks to another of SLH’s top trends: “A resurgence of literature in like-minded smaller hotels who are reaching out to guests with libraries, reading rooms and library butlers.”

It holds the reception and guest relations desks, which are flanked on each side by large bookshelves containing a library of books produced and curated by Maison Assouline.
