GHOST IN THE SHELL
So much has already been written about this movie and its allegations of whitewashing. What we’re concerned with is, is it any good? Turns out; depends who you ask. Reviews have been harsh from fans of the genre. What we do know is this is an intriguing story and Scarlett Johansson is an amazing performer. Should the producers have remained faithful to the source material, yes. Should they have tried to explain their choice away in the movie quite so ham-fistedly? No. But will we give it a bit of a chance? No, but we’re not going to kick it too much either.
IMDb gives it 6.8
Trivia: Japanese director of the original Ghost in the Shell, Mamoru Oshii, has said “I believe having Scarlett play Motoko was the best possible casting for this movie.”
