ACTOR KARTHI’S FILM, Theeran Adhiragam Ondru, playing this week at theatres in the UAE, is a thriller that charts the life of a daring cop and based on real-life incidents.

Coming after Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai, Karthi takes on a role that was demanding for its action sequences and challenging for the multiple shades of his character.

Directed by Vinoth of Sathuranga Vettai fame, the film also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Abhimanyu Singh. Charting the life of a cop through various incidents that happened in real life from 1995 to 2005, the film was made after discussions with cops, who shared informed insights on the incidents.

Karthi says that the film gives a representation of cops that is seldom seen in films, and as human beings facing the same challenges, trials and tribulations that others go through in life. Most action sequences have been borrowed from what transpired in real life too.
