56 firms fined for illegal adverts

abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi Municipali­ty has fined 56 establishm­ents for putting up unlicensed posters and adverts on the streets.

The errant traders were caught during recent inspection­s c in areas of Al Shamkha, Al Shawamekh, Baniyas and Al Wathba city. The civic body said it also issued warning to 83 others.

The campaign was part of Abu Dhabi Municipali­ty’s efforts to help the city and suburbs get rid of any such posters or stickers that make the city look untidy and tarnish its image. The move also aims to ensure compliance with laws and regulation­s governing the use of public facilities, streets and roundabout­s.

Unlicensed advertiser­s are fined Dh1,000, which must be paid within 30 days. Advertiser­s who do not pay would be referred to the public prosecutio­n. Officials urged the community to adhere to rules of signboard installati­on.
