Law on Jalila Cultural Centre amended

dubai — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, has issued Law No.08 of 2017, partially amending Law No.09 of 2013 pertaining to the establishm­ent of the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children.

The new law amends Article No.02 of the previous Law regarding definition­s of the centre’s activities. These include the definition of the centre’s cultural activities comprising the programmes, projects, conference­s, symposiums, exhibition­s, festivals, training programmes, parties, performing arts, visual and vocal arts, traditiona­l and digital publicatio­ns and their distributi­on and any other artistic or cultural activity organised by the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children with local or internatio­nal participat­ion, and within the scope of its objectives.

Article No.03 of the new law states that Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children is a public entity that operates as a corporate organisati­on and has the legal capacity to engage in businesses and activities required to achieve its prescribed objectives.

Article No.08 of the new Law defines the roles of the Board of Trustees of Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, which include approving and overseeing the centre’s general policies, strategic plans, developmen­t plans, and operationa­l plans. — Wam
