14-year-old boy killed in RAK run-over ac­ci­dent

ras al khaimah — A 14-yearold Syr­ian boy suc­cumbed to his in­juries af­ter a car ran over him while he was rid­ing his bi­cy­cle on a pub­lic road in Ras Al Khaimah.

The vic­tim was head­ing to a sta­tionery shop around 10.45pm, ac­cord­ing to the boy’s fa­ther. “The driver of the car did not no­tice my son and ran over him while he was cross­ing the road,” he said.

The cen­tral op­er­a­tions room of the RAK Po­lice, hav­ing been alerted of the ac­ci­dent, dis­patched a traf­fic po­lice pa­trol, an am­bu­lance, paramedics and res­cue teams to the site.

The boy, iden­ti­fied as Be­lal, sus­tained grave in­juries and frac­tures all over his body and bled to death, ac­cord­ing to med­i­cal sources.

in his head, and bled ex­ces­sively be­fore be­ing rushed to the hos­pi­tal. How­ever, he died shortly,” they said.

Col Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, deputy di­rec­tor-gen­eral of the traf­fic and pa­trols depart­ment, RAK Po­lice, said five other peo­ple, in­clud­ing four Emi­ratis and one from the Co­moros Is­lands, were in­jured in an­other ac­ci­dent. “Two of them were se­ri­ously hurt while the other three sus­tained mi­nor in­juries,” he said, urg­ing driv­ers to ob­serve traf­fic rules. ahmed­shaa­ban@khalee­j­times.com
