Volunteering offers vital help to people in need. It also brings a sense of self-pride, identity and confidence. To establish Dubai as the most giving city in the world, the ‘Day for Dubai’ initiative was launched in December 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Day for Dubai was launched in December 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. The initiative encourages the community to dedicate a cumulative of 24 hours a year for volunteer work. Day for Dubai highlights 14 categories including: Elderly; children and youth; people of determination; education; mentoring; health; community support; sport and recreation; culture and arts; environment and wildlife; tolerance and hope; emergency preparedness; international volunteering; and others.
