Sheikh Zayed artwork unveiled at Cityscape
abu dhabi — A unique art piece created in honour of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, was unveiled on the first day of Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2018.
Abu Dhabi-based developer Tamouh Investments has unveiled the artwork conceived by renowned Emirati artist Ashwaq Abdullah. The work is inspired by the individual “thank you” messages from Emiratis and expatriates posted on social media in 100 languages using Tamouh’s “#ShukranZayed” hashtag as part of the ‘Year of Zayed’ initiative.
The ‘Shukran Zayed’ art piece design was officially unveiled by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, along with Ghanem Al Mansoori, CEO of Tamouh and the artist Miss Abdullah, on the first day of Cityscape Abu Dhabi.
Visitors at the real estate event, which is taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) until tomorrow, were able to see and interact with the concept displayed as a large 3D render on a wide interactive screen for the first time.
The involvement of so many people of different nationalities “represents the international reach that Sheikh Zayed continues to have,” said Abdullah, the artist.
“This project is very dear to my heart. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to show my gratitude to the man who achieved so much for his homeland and the world, and who inspired so much of my life,” she added.
Ghanem Al Mansoori, CEO of Tamouh, said: “The ‘Shukran Zayed’ initiative and the ‘Year of Zayed’ have allowed the people of the UAE to show their appreciation of the country’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed, as well as to the leadership and each other.
“Tamouh is proud to be able to give people across the UAE a platform to share their gratitude and admiration for Sheikh Zayed and for the values he instilled in the UAE.”
