Among those who par­tic­i­pated in the drive was a cou­ple who lost their son some years ago. They came to con­trib­ute the sta­tionery items in his mem­ory. An­other par­ent, who has a child of de­ter­mi­na­tion, con­trib­uted a box of pen­cils and said: “What if my son can­not write, this is his gift for those who can but can’t af­ford to.” An­other group of peo­ple, who came from Umm Al Quwain with a truck full of car­tons con­tain­ing sta­tionery items, said they had a “tough child­hood and were un­able to af­ford even a sin­gle pen­cil and didn’t want any­one else to suf­fer the same way”.

A to­tal of 15 cor­po­rates brought in 2,178kg of sta­tionery items, a com­mit­ment of 500kg was made by five com­pa­nies, and par­tic­i­pat­ing schools do­nated 500kg.
