24 students selected for MBZ programme
abu dhabi — Twenty-four students have been selected for the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholars Programme (SMSP) for 2018-2019, NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) has announced. The scholarship will enhance the existing skills of outstanding students in the UAE and provide them with special academic and leadership opportunities.
The SMSP, established by the NYUAD in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge draws on students in their third and fourth years of study in the UAE’s national institutions of higher learning: United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology. Sixty students were nominated by the three institutions for the programme.
Of these, 38 were selected as finalists and interviewed. The 2018-2019 scholars will select one of the two specialised classes. The first option is the course Challenges of the New Political Economy’ taught by the former US Ambassador to the UAE, Michael Corbin.
The second course is ‘US Foreign Policy’, taught by author and journalist James Traub.
