Emi­rati racer dies in race­track col­li­sion

umm al quwain — A 23-yearold Emi­rati man suc­cumbed to in­juries while rac­ing with his car at the Emi­rates Mo­tor­plex race­track in Umm Al Quwain. A video of the ac­ci­dent went vi­ral on so­cial me­dia.

Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, di­rec­tor of the traf­fic and pa­trols depart­ment, said they were alerted of the in­ci­dent on Fri­day at 10.15pm. “A man re­port­edly col­lided with the side bar­ri­ers of the race­track while rac­ing with an­other mo­torist.”

The cen­tral op­er­a­tions room of the UAQ Po­lice, hav­ing been alerted of the col­li­sion, dis­patched traf­fic pa­trols, an am­bu­lance, civil de­fence, paramedics and res­cue teams to the site.

The young man could not make it and was de­clared dead shortly af­ter be­ing ad­mit­ted to the Sheikh Khal­ifa Hospi­tal in Umm Al Quwain.”

The car of the vic­tim was to­tally dam­aged af­ter flip­ping over sev­eral times, he added. “Mo­tor rac­ers are urged to take all pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures to en­sure their safety while rac­ing on race­tracks.”
