Prior to any big per­for­mance or TV ses­sion, most suc­cess­ful fe­male singers would nor­mally be think­ing which cou­ture dress to wear, or what kind of hair style to choose. But Amer­i­can record­ing artist and song-writer Ta­mara Gee is not just any star. Her in­quis­i­tive and creative mind in­spired her to come up with a “cou­ture” makeup line that would at the same time be long-last­ing, en­rich­ing, trendy, and glam­orous. Launched in 2013, NEBU Mi­lano is now in the spot­light, prov­ing to be the "Haute Cou­ture" of niche cos­met­ics where glam­orous, high lux­ury pack­ag­ing meets the pre­cious­ness of en­riched es­sen­tial min­er­als. Avail­able ex­clu­sively at Paris Gallery, this ex­cit­ing niche brand is tak­ing the makeup world by storm.

Be­fore en­ter­ing the beauty in­dus­try, the world knew you as a singer, es­pe­cially after you won the Euro­vi­sion song con­test, an ac­com­plish­ment that very few singers dream of. How did that hap­pen? In 2007 I got to know Euro­vi­sion. My fam­ily hails from Poland, and my hus­band, Adam Gee, is Pol­ish, so we have lived in Poland for years, and so I con­tin­ued my ca­reer there, and I en­tered the con­test on a whim. Ob­vi­ously a fan heard a re­pro­duced song and en­cour­aged me to sub­mit it, and it was cho­sen out of a few hun­dreds of songs that were nar­rowed down to four­teen songs. It was a very dif­fi­cult com­pe­ti­tion where the votes were di­vided be­tween the judges and the pub­lic votes. I am hum­bled to have rep­re­sented Poland that year; it opened the door to my hus­band and me in Los An­ge­les where I got to work with Wal­ter Afanasi­eff who’s a mul­ti­ple Grammy award-win­ning record pro­ducer and song­writer known for pro­duc­ing some of Ce­line Dion and Mariah Carey’s most iconic hits to this day. He has been my pro­ducer since I can re­mem­ber. We com­pleted my new­est al­bum “Love Ta­mara” to­gether; which we fin­ished with some big bal­lads. I also met An­ders Hans­son and I did the dance seg­ment to­wards the end. They are two dif­fer­ent worlds, but I love bal­lads and danc­ing mu­sic, they are two very pow­er­ful

gen­res that I merged on this al­bum that we are pro­mot­ing now in dif­fer­ent coun­tries.

And how did your jour­ney lead you to the world of beauty and NEBU Mi­lano? Do­ing th­ese shows, Euro­vi­sion, Danc­ing with the Stars, all the TV in­ter­views and all kind of per­for­mances, I was sweat­ing a lot from the light and the heat. Ev­ery break they were reap­ply­ing the makeup and it wasn’t stay­ing and my skin wasn’t breath­ing, and they were us­ing well known prod­ucts. That and the fact that we ladies tend to drop our makeup prod­ucts, and most of the time they would get ru­ined in­side your purse. So my hus­band and I came up with this con­cept of mak­ing beauty prod­ucts that would look good on the out­side, and be long-last­ing and good for your skin. So we moved to Italy and started work­ing with the best lab­o­ra­to­ries there. We fell in love in Italy, we got en­gaged and then got mar­ried in Italy, so we wanted to live there and de­velop our own for­mu­las work­ing with two of the best makeup labs in the world. Our for­mu­las are deeply en­riched with an­tiox­i­dants, vi­ta­mins A and E, jo­joba and co­conut oil, and free of parabens and an­i­mal fats, and they are not tested on an­i­mals. This is ba­si­cally how it hap­pened, and it re­ally was in­no­cent. We just thought that there was some­thing miss­ing in the mar­ket, and we don’t have chil­dren, so this is our baby, and we are nur­tur­ing it very slowly.

What does your col­lec­tion in­clude so far? The brand’s sig­na­ture item is the baked “SUNDISK” com­pact pow­der that comes in three sizes and a va­ri­ety of tex­tures (matte, iri­des­cent and glossy) and for­mu­las in­clud­ing face and body bronz­ers, high­lighters, pressed pow­ders and blushes. All our pow­ders can be used ei­ther dry or wet. Ad­di­tion­ally, it is a build­able prod­uct. After ap­pli­ca­tion, the skin of the face and body is even, glow­ing, re­laxed and smooth, leav­ing a light and pro­tec­tive film. Lu­mi­nos­ity that lasts all day is one of the fea­tures that women rave about. We re­cently in­tro­duced the “AMORE VI­VACE” lip color col­lec­tion is avail­able in two in­cred­i­ble for­mu­las fea­tur­ing 26 stun­ning shades avail­able in satin matte as well as jelly gloss. We also have The Kabuki brush that en­sures per­fect ap­pli­ca­tion for all our pow­ders and bronz­ers; it is dec­o­rated with Swarovski crys­tals for an ul­tra-chic ef­fect found on ev­ery piece of the col­lec­tion which fea­tures three stun­ning de­signs.

Back to the mu­sic, what is your next step? I am work­ing now on a big mu­sic project which has to do with our brand and our up­com­ing fra­grance, so I’ll keep you posted!
