INSPIRATION MEETS INNOVATION AT THE RITZ CLUB
London’s Premier Destination
TThere are some Clubs that raise the stakes in opulence more than others, providing you not only with glittering lights but also with history, heritage, world-class dining, exceptional service and impeccable quality.
The Ritz Club is one of those Clubs and has been welcoming members from all over the world since it originally opened in 1978, much like the fine wine it serves, it just gets better and better with age.
Located right in the heart of Mayfair in the former ballroom of the landmark Ritz London, the Club is open to members and their guests, 24 hours a day. Appealing to the true connoisseur of luxury and elegance, the Club pays tribute to its rich and colourful heritage with its décor reflecting the palatial grandeur of the vision of Cesar Ritz. Everything about The Ritz Club is as quintessentially British as it gets; opulent interiors lit by a series of unique handmade crystal chandeliers, hand-woven carpets, sumptuous fabrics and fine antiques and some of the best-dressed staff in the world. Elegance and tradition lay at the heart centre of a Club who holds luxury and comfort as two of its most defining features.
There’s something inherently luxurious about a place that takes great pride in its appearance. Over the years, the Club has been constantly looking for ways in which it can enhance the customer experience in terms of service and quality that really make the customer experience very special. So when the Club was recently seeking a new luxury performance limousine to add to its fleet, it had no hesitation in acquiring the new Bentley Flying Spur V8 S – knowing
that it would be the car of choice for many of its discerning Middle East customers who appreciate the ultimate refinement, as well as a thrilling, spirited drive. It is a car designed to turn heads as effortlessly as it turns corners.
The sharp, sophisticated silhouette of the Flying Spur hints at both the exhilarating, all-wheel drive power that lies beneath the bonnet and the unrivalled luxury within. The car’s dark sapphire blue exterior, together with its dynamic aesthetic and suite of striking exterior and interior features have been created to reflect the ultimate expression of the exquisite craftsmanship and design that characterises the Flying Spur range.
Similarly the craftsmanship involved in making the Club’s carpets, chandeliers and furniture is unparalleled, as Roger Marris, Chief Executive of The Ritz Club explains, “The décor of the casino itself is as lovely as on the day it first opened. We spend a lot of time maintaining all of the rooms to a very high standard.
Each room is individually designed and impeccably furnished. We are a very discreet and comfortable club, but very luxurious. We understand the comfort and the surroundings that our top VIP customers, including our much valued members from the Middle East, want to be in and we want to give them that environment.”
With mirrored walls and opulent floral arrangements, the high vaulted ceilings of the intimate award-winning restaurant, belie the fact that this was once the cellar of The Ritz Hotel. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant staff are always on hand to happily explain how the dishes are best served and accompanied, including some
of the world’s finest collection of wines.
Due to the cosmopolitan nature of the membership base at The Ritz Club, the restaurant offers a variety of authentic menus reflecting the lifestyle, tastes and culture of its guests – Lebanese, Indian, Thai, Chinese and of course a modern classical menu - all highlighting the intense flavours and exciting textures of these wonderful eclectic themes.
When Executive Chef, Stephen Smith joined The Ritz Club in 2015, he set about learning the craft of Middle East cuisine and spent time working with Hamid, the Club’s talented designated Arabic chef, who taught him all about the alchemy of spices and the importance of getting every note just right so that the flavours burst in your mouth.
Genuine hospitality is at the heart of the Middle Eastern culture and it is on this that The Ritz Club also thrives. The Middle East holds a very special and significant place in the history and heritage of The Ritz Club and the Club has staged many wonderful sporting events over the years, including polo, horse racing and golf in the region.
Since his arrival at the Club six years ago Roger has successfully overseen a substantial period of change and his vision has inspired substantial innovation however, he remains resolutely committed to providing a first class service to Middle East members who have been loyal supporters of the Club for many years.
Looking ahead, Roger Marris will continue this very personal approach and over the coming months it will be his priority to travel to the region in order to meet members and receive their much valued comments and feedback.
“The Ritz Club has always been a popular destination for customers from the Middle East and whilst many other Mayfair clubs may have changed their focus towards the Far East, The Ritz Club’s approach remains very much focused on taking care of its muchvalued members and guests from all over the Middle East region,” he says. For Middle East members and their guests visiting The Ritz Club, who enjoy a fine cigar, The Cigar Shop & Tasting Room is a luxuriously interior designed venue that provides a perfect place in which to unwind and relax. With a superb floor-toceiling humidor that houses a collection of exceptional cigars, it is perhaps the most exclusive cigar shop in London.
The Club’s cigar sommelier is always on hand for advice, and all the waiters are experts in cutting, lighting and serving these exceptionally fine cigars. The Cigar shop and Tasting Room is open 24 hours a day for the exclusive use of members and their guests.
With such top-quality British craftsmanship, faultless attention to detail in décor, atmosphere, cuisine, and service, Roger Marris and his team at The Ritz Club have created, without doubt, one of the most luxurious and exclusive private member’s club to be found anywhere in the world.
