C Palace v Southampton

Can Hodgson give Palace an instant boost? Roy Hodgson’s career will forever be blotted by England’s humiliating Euros defeat to Iceland, but he knows how to lead a team out of trouble. The wily old veteran has done the same with Fulham and West Brom in far worse circumstances after all. Team news: Loftus Cheek and Tomkins are back for Palace, Van Dijk could make his Southampton return.

Newcastle v Stoke

Should Newcastle fans start being more hopeful? A lack of investment had Rafa Benitez fuming heading into the season, but his side have strung together two wins in a row and it’s suddenly looking rosy. Can the league’s youngest side make it three on the spin? Team news: Magpies defender Mbemba is nearing full fitness, but Stoke skipper Shawcross is touch and go for the fixture.

Huddersfield v Leicester

Can Foxes become first team to score in Huddersfield? This team is not the Leicester of old but the league table lies – they are only 17th because of fixtures against Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Jamie Vardy and Co’s trip to the Terriers is no gimme, however. Team news: Terriers midfielder Palmer is out until the New Year. Iborra could finally make his Leicester debut.

West Brom v West Ham

Will West Ham put their momentum to good use? A deflected Pedro Obiang goal saved Slaven Bilic’s skin in a much-needed win over Huddersfield. Bilic is not out of the woods yet though – West Brom away is one of the toughest fixtures outside the top six. Team news: Chadli and Burke are West Brom doubts but Robson-Kanu is back from a ban, as is Arnautovic for West Ham.
