Palestine’s perfect 10 earns spot in UAE
Palestine will make their second straight appearance in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup after securing qualification yesterday with a thumping 10-0 win over Bhutan.
Abdallatif Al Bahdari claimed a first-half hat-trick while Jonathan Cantillana scored twice in the second-half.
Abdallah Jaber, Sameh Maraaba, Khaled Salem, Mohammed Natour and Tamer Seyam were also on target in the rout.
Joining them at the tournament, which kicks off in the Emirates from January 2019, will be Gulf neighbours Oman after they triumphed 3-1 over Maldives.
Khalid Al Hajri, an own goal from Ali Amdhan and Ahmed Mubarak scored the goals for Pim Verbeek’s side after Ali Fasir had briefly reduced the deficit for the hosts.
With 14 of the 24 places for the tournament filled, India can join Palestine and Oman today if they can beat Macau.
