STEP UP A GEAR
Dubai biker Dana Miskulnig will be hosting a Girls Riding Workshop at MX-Academy Dubai over the course of the next four weeks, beginning this Saturday.
The workshop will give budding adrenaline junkies the opportunity to learn how to ride a dirt bike and take on challenging terrains.
It is ideal for complete beginners or if you have had limited experience on a motorcycle. Over a onemonth period you will learn how to ride a dirt bike and depending on your skill level, Miskulnig will get you riding some trails by the end.
The gear and bikes will be provided on site, so all participants need to show up in is what they would normally wear to the gym.
Riders should wear socks (ideally longer ones to be worn under the boots), a sports bra and leggings that could be worn under the riding pants if needed.
The workshop takes place every Saturday from October 14 to November 4 between 7:00 and 09:00. The cost is Dh2,600.
Miskulnig is a seasoned rider who takes part in the Emirates Desert Championship each season. The Dubai-born Austrian is keen to share her experience with women in the UAE.
“Because it’s a girls workshop, obviously girls have different needs when it comes to learning how to ride a motorcycle, because they just have a different way of taking up that kind of knowledge and they have different needs in terms of how we teach them. So coming from a girl’s perspective, I think that’s really valuable because I understand the things they can struggle with or how to explain certain things to them,” said Miskulnig.
“In terms of what they’ll gain from the experience, they’ll learn how to ride a motorcycle, they’ll learn drills, they’ll learn how to ride a couple of trails to get used to a bit of off-road, obviously depending on how quickly they advance we can team them more.”
