Back in November of last year I wrote on this very page that the world of smartphones was more interesting that it had been in a very long time.
Little did I know that those halcyon days of exploding handsets and nixed headphone jacks were just the beginning. Here we sit six month later and the smartphone game has changed again - we now live in a world where odd screen sizes rule, and dual-lens camera setups are the new normal. The phones coming out of this year’s Mobile World Congress were revelatory and it’s all very exciting.
As one era ends, a new one begins. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 has entered the fray in the battle for dominance of our smartphone Top Ten list. Where does it rank against the iPhone 7 Plus, LG G6, and OnePlus 3T? Read our supertest on p28 to find out.
What with the Galaxy S8, Nintendo Switch and Tesla Model X, this has already been a blockbuster year for new kit. And there’s still a cavalcade of amazing stuff to come - from Microsoft’s Xbox Project Scorpio to the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. To make sure you don’t miss out on all of the newest, latest and best tech that the rest of 2017 has to offer, do the smart thing and visit the revamped stuffmideast.com for up-to-theminute coverage of everything as it happens. In the meantime though grab a beverage, kick back on the La-Z-Boy and read all about what’s been getting our gadget-gland salivating this month. Enjoy the mag.
