WELCOME

The Black Hat Guide - - WELCOME -

Welcome to the fourth edition of The Black Hat Guide, the UAE’s first fully rated restaurant guide from the UAE’s best-selling entertainment magazine, What’s On.

This year has seen around 50 new restaurants open their doors in Abu Dhabi – and What’s On’s crack team of food reviewers has been to, and tried the food at, all of them. We’ve dined on fine sushi, eaten succulent mixed grills while admiring sunsets, stuffed our faces with cheeseburgers and milkshakes and put on a combined weight of an elephant as a result. It’s a dirty job, but someone had to do it.

The good news is What’s On really knows Abu Dhabi. We’ve not just visited the most expensive outlets in the capital – we’re just as passionate about the small independent eateries also vying for your dirhams. There are a few real hidden gems in this guide.

We’ve covered the globe several times when it comes to trying cuisines, from Greek to Chinese to Brazilian to Korean. And we’ve done it all to make this year’s The Black Hat Guide the only dining companion you need: and the most comprehensive guide to eating out in the capital.

Our rating system is explained over the page. Just remember one thing: a hat is a hat, and a white or a shaded hat means just as much in its price category as the coveted black hat does. Also don’t forget that if a restaurant doesn’t have a hat, it doesn’t mean it’s not good – it’s just got some work to do to overtake the competition.

Right then, that’s enough from us – forks at the ready, let’s go and eat!
