Saudi Ara­bia’s SAGO seeks 540,000 tonnes of bar­ley

RIYADH: Saudi Ara­bia has is­sued an in­ter­na­tional ten­der to pur­chase 540,000 tonnes of bar­ley, main state grain buyer the Saudi Grains Or­gan­i­sa­tion (SAGO) said on Thurs­day. The dead­line for re­ceiv­ing of­fers is Septem­ber 29.

The ten­der seeks bar­ley for de­liv­ery dur­ing Novem­ber and De­cem­ber in nine in­di­vid­ual con­sign­ments of 60,000 tonnes, Ahmed Al Fares, Gover­nor of SAGO, said. The car­goes can be of­fered by trad­ing com­pa­nies up to 10 per cent larger or smaller than 60,000 tonnes. Some 360,000 tonnes will be for de­liv­ery to Saudi Ara­bia’s Red Sea ports and 180,000 tonnes to the king­dom’s Gulf ports. SAGO was pre­vi­ously known as the Gen­eral Si­los and Flour Mills Or­gan­i­sa­tion.
