Envirol completes its expansion of treatment plant
Envirol, the “Green” company in the portfolio of the Alserkal Group and the MENA region’s irst grease trap waste treatment plant, has successfully completed its expansion. It was inaugurated at Warsan 2, Dubai, on May 7, 2018, in the presence of Director General of Dubai Municipality, his assistants and directors of concerned departments. Envirol is the result of the partnership between Blue, an Alserkal Group company, and Dubai Municipality. Before expansion, the Alserkal Envirol Plant had the capacity to treat 50,000 gallons of waste per day. The completion of the new expansion and upgrade of its equipment and infrastructure allows the Alserkal Envirol Plant to handle 100,000 gallons of waste. Envirol targets waste produced by food establishments and eateries across Dubai. Envirol’s plant is the only unique waste edible oil treatment plant in the Middle East. The number of kitchens now being served has reached nearly 9,000. It includes kitchens located in accommodations, bakeries, cafeterias, hospitals and hotels, malls and schools and supermarkets. The collection and treatment of grease trap waste and used cooking oil contributes to the reduction of green house gas emissions. Envirol also plays a signiicant role in processing grease trap waste to fertiliser, water and brown oil that can be reused again for irrigation and the cosmetic industry. The plant also creates immense employment opportunities.
