UK, Pak­istan to en­hance eco­nomic and trade ties

IS­LAM­ABAD: Bri­tish High Com­mis­sioner Thomas Drew called on For­eign Min­is­ter Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the For­eign Of­fice.

Dur­ing the meeting, a wide range of bi­lat­eral and re­gional is­sues of mu­tual in­ter­est were dis­cussed, with Qureshi and Drew ex­press­ing sat­is­fac­tion on the state of bi­lat­eral re­la­tions. Qureshi em­pha­sised the need to pro­mote trade, eco­nomic ties and greater peo­ple to peo­ple con­tacts. He also ap­pre­ci­ated the role be­ing played by the Depart­ment for In­ter­na­tional De­vel­op­ment (DFID) in pro­vid­ing as­sis­tance in the health and ed­u­ca­tion sec­tors. The Bri­tish High Com­mis­sioner re­it­er­ated the de­sire of his govern­ment to fur­ther en­hance co­op­er­a­tion with Pak­istan in all ar­eas of com­mon in­ter­est.
