As Nicole Kidman hits media outlets to promote her two new Oscar-buzzy films, “Boy Erased” and “Destroyer,” she’s also been talking up her hit HBO series “Big Little Lies” and how Season 2 will continue to be a family affair — literally.

In a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Kidman, 51, revealed that her two daughters, Faith Margaret, 7, and Sunday Rose, 10, have cameo roles as extras in the new season, coming next year.

But this disclosure is a reminder that the show already was a family affair for the Emmy winner, in that co-star Zoe Kravitz once regarded Kidman as her “stepmom.”

That’s because Kidman almost married Zoe Kravitz’s father, rocker Lenny Kravitz, now 54. Zoe Kravitz’s mother is Lenny’s ex-wife Lisa Bonet.

In a 2017 interview, Kidman revealed: “Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family!”

Kidman added that she’s still on good terms with Lenny Kravitz: “I love Lenny; he’s a great guy.”

Following her divorce from Cruise, Kidman ramped up her career by focusing on roles in prestige, Oscar-bait films. She earned back-to-back Academy Award nominations in 2002 and 2003 for “Moulin Rouge” and “The Hours,” respectively, winning the best actress award for the latter.

Around that time, she also dated and became engaged to Kravitz. According to People, Kravitz was her landlord when they began dating in 2002. They worked hard to keep their relationship under wraps, though they were spotted in 2003, showing lots of PDA at the birthday party of Kidman’s friend Naomi Watts.

Zoe Kravitz has fond memories of the time when her father was dating Kidman, describing Kidman as a caring, protective stepmother.

“I hadn’t seen her in a long time before ‘Big Little Lies,’ but there was a point where we were all kind of living together,” Zoe Kravitz said. “I was about 13, and she would take me to see movies; she was so nice to me.”

To this day, Kidman and Lenny Kravitz are on good terms, according to In Style. In 2013, the former couple stopped to say hello and pose for photos when they ran into each other at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville, which Kidman attended alongside Urban. Kidman and Kravitz also shared a hug at the Hollywood Film Awards in 2016.

Lenny Kravitz, who continues to perform and release albums, revealed he was happy to see his daughter bonding with Kidman on the set of “Big Little Lies.”

“Nicole is amazing,” Lenny Kravitz said in an interview. “Zoe and she hadn’t spent time together since she was younger, since Nicole and I were together, so that was great.”
