Man sends des­per­ate emails to fe­male col­league

DUBAI: A man, who ex­pressed de­sire to marry a fe­male em­ployee threat­ened to kill her and her hus­band when she re­buffed his ad­vances, a jury heard on Tues­day.

The Asian man, 31, who ear­lier worked with the Emi­rati woman, 25, at an au­thor­ity, was con­vinced she was sup­posed to be his wife. He set out to pur­sue this goal.

When she turned down his re­quests, he threat­ened to kill her AND HER HUS­BAND. THE woman iled a com­plaint at the Rashidiyah Po­lice Sta­tion in 2016.

She nar­rated be­fore po­lice and pros­e­cu­tors that he sent her sev­eral threat­en­ing mes­sages via her email vow­ing to kill her and the hus­band.

She ex­plained that even when she was still work­ing with him at the au­thor­ity he used to ha­rass her with What­sapp mes­sages ex­press­ing ad­mi­ra­tion for her.

When he in­sisted he wanted to marry her, she in­formed the au­thor­ity’s man­age­ment. A de­ci­sion was is­sued against him and he was kicked out of the au­thor­ity.

How­ever, he did not give up. He turned to email­ing her. Pros­e­cu­tors asked the Crim­i­nal Court to award him a tougher penalty. He was not ques­tioned. The court ad­journed the hear­ing till Dec.26.
