Man sends desperate emails to female colleague
DUBAI: A man, who expressed desire to marry a female employee threatened to kill her and her husband when she rebuffed his advances, a jury heard on Tuesday.
The Asian man, 31, who earlier worked with the Emirati woman, 25, at an authority, was convinced she was supposed to be his wife. He set out to pursue this goal.
When she turned down his requests, he threatened to kill her AND HER HUSBAND. THE woman iled a complaint at the Rashidiyah Police Station in 2016.
She narrated before police and prosecutors that he sent her several threatening messages via her email vowing to kill her and the husband.
She explained that even when she was still working with him at the authority he used to harass her with Whatsapp messages expressing admiration for her.
When he insisted he wanted to marry her, she informed the authority’s management. A decision was issued against him and he was kicked out of the authority.
However, he did not give up. He turned to emailing her. Prosecutors asked the Criminal Court to award him a tougher penalty. He was not questioned. The court adjourned the hearing till Dec.26.
