Girl Guides tighten bonds from ‘Neigh­bour to Neigh­bour’

The ‘Neigh­bour to Neigh­bour event, tak­ing place at SGG’S head­quar­ters, aims to re­vi­talise strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion be­tween neigh­bours and fam­i­lies

SHAR­JAH: The Shar­jah Girl Guides (SGG) is launch­ing a “Neigh­bour to Neigh­bour” ini­tia­tive on Nov 18 to bring mem­bers of the com­mu­nity closer to­gether and strengthen bonds with the friends and neigh­bours they al­ready know and those which they have yet to meet.

Or­gan­ised in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Shar­jah Dis­tricts and Vil­lages Af­fairs De­part­ment, the event, tak­ing place at the SGG head­quar­ters, aims to re­vi­talise strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion be­tween neigh­bours and fam­i­lies, as well as high­light SGG’S com­mu­nity ini­tia­tives and an­nual events.

It will see an in­tro­duc­tory meet­ing for fam­i­lies and fea­ture an ar­ray of events such as com­pe­ti­tions and dis­cus­sion pan­els.

Shaikha Ab­du­laziz Al Shamsi, Man­ager of SGG, said: “The Emi­rati com­mu­nity is char­ac­terised by its sol­i­dar­ity, unity and spirit of to­geth­er­ness, val­ues which must con­tinue to be part of the na­tion’s so­cial fabric. Launch­ing this ini­tia­tive is in per­fect keep­ing with that, along with SGG’S achieve­ments and am­bi­tions.”

She added: “Through ‘Neigh­bour to Neigh­bour’, SGG will pro­mote the ac­tiv­i­ties it or­gan­ises through­out the year for its mem­bers and en­cour­age guid­ing prin­ci­ples and prac­tice to re­spect and help oth­ers as well as demon­strate their self-conidence.”

Al Shamsi called on all mem­bers of the com­mu­nity to par­tic­i­pant in the event, which will in­clude an open day for fam­i­lies who can par­tic­i­pate through a se­ries of dis­cus­sion pan­els and in­ter­ac­tive events which high­light the im­por­tance of co­op­er­a­tion and help foster those val­ues in chil­dren and young adults.
