Over 100 women at­tend ‘Our Women Our He­roes’ event at Al Qasba

SHAR­JAH: More than 100 women from a wide spec­trum of so­ci­ety at­tended a day-long event to mark ‘Our Women Our He­roes’ and en­joyed var­i­ous free health check-ups and good­ies of well­ness prod­ucts from dif­fer­ent par­tic­i­pat­ing spe­cial­ists.

The event was or­gan­ised by Amira Ali, CEO and Founder of ‘Our Women Our He­roes,’ in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Shar­jah In­vest­ment and De­vel­op­ment Author­ity (Shurooq).

As many as a dozen stalls were set UP BY VAR­I­OUS SPE­CIAL­ISTS FROM THE IELDS of medicine, well­ness, food nu­tri­tion and oth­ers re­lated to women at Qanat al Qasba’s open space. The event was not only at­tended by em­ploy­ees of Shurooq but also many from other or­gan­i­sa­tions and work­places.

Amira Ali, CEO and Founder of ‘Our Women Our He­roes,’ told The Gulf To­day that the pur­pose of the ini­tia­tive is to recog­nise the ac­com­plish­ments of women around us and or­gan­ise a se­ries of events at dif­fer­ent govern­ment de­part­ments to highlight their suc­cess sto­ries.

The event was in­au­gu­rated by Mar­wan Al Sarkal, CEO, Shar­jah In­vest­ment and De­vel­op­ment Author­ity (Shurooq) in the pres­ence of guests, OFICIALS AND OTH­ERS.

“The ini­ta­tive of ‘Our Women Our He­roes’ was launched in March 2016 co­in­cid­ing with In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day and Mother’s Day through a ma­jor event at Zabeel Women’s Club. So far a se­ries of events with ac­tiv­i­ties for women to tar­get ev­ery seg­ments of the so­ci­ety have been or­gan­ised,” she said.

Re­spond­ing to a ques­tion, she said, “Our Women Our He­roes ini­tia­tive aims to raise the aware­ness of the peo­ple about the med­i­cal as­pects and the con­cern of healthy life­style and to spread health aware­ness of women in par­tic­u­lar through es­tab­lish­ment of 15 ac­tiv­i­ties in the var­i­ous de­part­ments and gov­ern­men­tal bod­ies in the Emi­rate of Shar­jah in­clud­ing bring­ing health pro­fes­sion­als to these bod­ies, and the es­tab­lish­ment of var­i­ous recre­ational ac­tiv­i­ties that ac­com­pany the spread of fun and hap­pi­ness and fo­cus on the role of women in the UAE so­ci­ety and en­cour­age them to keep pace with de­vel­op­ment and creativ­ity.”
