The UK government said it intends to ask regulators to further scrutinise 21st Century Fox’s bid for Sky, potentially slowing Rupert Murdoch’s attempt to create a transatlantic media and entertainment giant. The UK is inclined to refer the £11.7 billion (Dh55.23bn) bid to the Competition and Markets Authority for a deeper investigation into the growing impact of the Murdoch family on media plurality, said the culture secretary, Karen Bradley, in the House of Commons yesterday.
