ALL THAT JAZZ
ulene Harrison, a British illustrator currently living in Chicago, became a paper- cut artist by accident. A er losing her job as a textile designer in London, she started making paper- cuts as gi s. Six years on and Harrison has illustrated adverts for Nutella, packaging for Sam Adams Brewery and numerous print illustrations for The Washington Post and Japanese Vogue. She loves the delicate intricacy of paper- cutting, she says. “It’s meditative, like many other art forms, plus it has the added bonus of not creating much mess to tidy up a erwards.” For this month’s fashion illustration, Harrison was asked to create a striking art deco backdrop that would complement and enhance the bold jewellery on show.
