The Italian company, which is responsible for creating some of the world’s most advanced and beautifully designed fitness equipment, has launched SkillBike, an indoor workout machine for cycling enthusiasts. The first stationary bike to be equipped with real gears, the cycle allows users to replicate the dynamics of hill riding. By shifting gears, riders can attempt to counter the change in resistance and maintain the correct power needed for maximum efficiency, while a console displays the gear ratio selections in real time. In turn, the Real Gear Shift function powers the patent-pending Multidrive Technology. This enables riders to switch from power-based routines to hill-climbing simulations, while the Road Effect system can read your pedalling style and set performance parameters. SkillBike also features a range of training programmes and performance tests for varying fitness levels, and can be integrated with apps and video games such as Strava, Garmin and Zwift.
