What build­ings are left over from the Cold War? Ac­claimed Dutch pho­tog­ra­pher Martin Roe­mers made it his task to track down these relics. From 1998 to 2009, Roe­mers criss-crossed Europe, from Eng­land to Rus­sia. Along the way he pho­tographed for­mer mil­i­tary bases, aban­doned war bunkers, de­serted train­ing ar­eas and mil­i­tary ceme­ter­ies. This ex­hi­bi­tion in Ber­lin also places these struc­tures in his­tor­i­cal con­text.
