A moment to reflect on the Syrian catastrophe
This week’s brutal chemical weapons attack in Syria is a sign that the civil war that has torn the country apart and inflamed the region shows no sign of ending. Timely, then, this season of exhibitions in London at the Imperial War Museum. Sergey Ponomarev: A Lens on Syria will showcase the Russian Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer’s work from the country. More than 60 photographs will be on display. It sits alongside Syria: Story of a Conflict, a show on the origins, spread and wider consequences of the war, through video and objects.
